Note from Shelia

Greetings Everyone,

Right here, right now I am filled with gratitude to all of you for your part in manifesting my dream of love, light and peace in all facets of my life. Each day the light around me expands and reaches out to the world in ways I am honored to experience.  The sacred energy of Egypt is always entwined with mine and your love of Egypt adds to the brilliance of it.

Dreams are our Divine Spirits way of pointing us in the direction of joy in our lives.  Through this joy, love and peace permeate each moment of this reality.  It is our responsibility as conscious masters of light to bring this dream into manifestation.

The Dream of a life filled with success in our relationships, our work, and our play is a life of miraculous moments and divine days.

In The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, Deepak Chopra wrote, “In reality we are divinity in disguise, and the gods and goddesses in embryo that are contained within us seek to be fully materialized.”   For the ancient Egyptians this statement was their true belief.  The pantheon of Gods and Goddesses in ancient Egypt represented an aspect within each person that, when fully contemplated, would activate that divine part and materialize in their everyday lives. Each temple honored a particular deity and represented the ‘divine in disguise’.  Through the mystery schools the master within was exposed, understood, honored, and then would materialize in the life of the student.

In order to manifest the Divine Spirit within each of us, our first requirement is to expose the truth within by understanding that we are indeed the master and the student.  With this truth in place, manifesting our greatest desires and experiencing the dreams of a successful miraculous life are ours.  The powerful energy of Egypt magnifies the ‘divine in disguise’ and moves you securely on the path of wisdom.  Listen to your Divine Spirit and welcome the energy of Egypt to entwine with yours for a life filled with prosperity, joy, love, and peace.

In Oneness,

Shelia

Integrating Our Yin Yang

The ancient temple of Kom Ombo and the second chakra

By Samone Myers

A traveler during ancient times in Egypt would have come upon a bend in the Nile River, and been awed by the beauty of Kom Ombo temple (see photo on left). Its noticeable feature is the symmetry in the architecture, which form dual temples; one dedicated to the God Horus, and the other to Sobek. In fact, in those days, this temple was referred to as ‘Pa-Sebek,’ which means, “Land of Sobek.” Later its name was changed to ‘Ombos,’ from the ancient Egyptian word 'nubt' that stands for 'City of Gold ' and was probably adopted because the city was important for gold mines and became a central trading point between Egypt and Nubia.

Why the two temples? Constructed as a part of the Ancient Mysteries Schools, Kom Ombo is designed to master duality, the two sides of Human: light and dark aspects of Self. It is also associated with the sacral chakra.  In Sanskirt the name for this chakra is "Svadhisthana," which means "dwelling place of the Self." Its placement along the Nile is appropriate since water is the element associated with this chakra.

Kom Ombo Temple has a variety of images on its walls and columns depicting the integration of Self to experience life in the physical as your Higher Self. One in particular (photo on right) shows an Ankh with arms, holding a staff on either side (one darker than the other), representing mastering duality, or integrating our yin yang. Other images show a king or Pharaoh flanked by Horus and Sobek, or sometimes Horus and Set. The latter demonstrates that the story of Horus’ enemy, Set and  “avenging” his Father’s (Osiris) death was really conveying conquering the darker aspects of Self. At Kom Ombo and throughout Egypt, this same depiction can be seen.

Initiates of the Mystery Schools during ancient times used Kom Ombo to master the fear of our dark aspects. A key way of doing this was using crocodiles (the animal associated with Sobek) in a pit (see photo on left). The Initiate was asked to go into the pit of water, knowing the crocodiles were in there, and swim through a maze. The goal, of course, was to come out the other side without being eaten alive. To do so, meant listening to your intuition and not succumbing to fear. According to one source [1], Initiates came to a place shortly after diving into the pit where it was necessary to decide between risking going up the short cut through the awaiting crocodiles or trusting in Self and swimming through a maze of darkness.

Not to worry, today, spiritual travelers are not asked to do this! However, there is an exercise that helps a person determine how integrated he/she is. [2] Quiet any mental chatter and stand facing the entrance to the dual temples with your eyes closed. Allow your intuition to guide you to one side or the other. Then, walk in silence and take note of feelings as you walk to the back of the temple. If drawn to the left (Horus or light side), be honest with yourself about whether you are avoiding the darker aspects. Ask yourself what you may fear about the darker aspects of Self. If drawn to the right (Sobek or dark side), ask yourself “Do I truly feel integrated?” And if you are not clear with answers, and/or are doubtful about whether you were listening to your Intuition, you may wish to do it again. Then, see if you are drawn to the same side.

There are also exercises that can be done prior to arriving at Kom Ombo. Most are related to ensuring your second chakra is balanced. Located in the lower abdomen, about an inch below the navel, this chakra is associated with creativity and procreation and governs emotional and sensual aspects of our lives. Due to this, the emotion associated with the 2nd chakra is passion.

Common blockages in this chakra show up as divorce, lawsuits, toxic and infectious conditions, kidney and bladder infections, immune disorders, chronic fatigue, cancer and diabetes. If emotions were repressed or denied in childhood or in current relationships, this chakra may be blocked. Some signs are fear of pleasure, being out of touch with one's feelings, resistance to change, anxiety, attachments to material things, a lack of compassion, and distrust. Conversely, signs of an excessive 2nd chakra may be overly emotional behavior, sexual addiction or poor boundaries. Excessiveness can be caused by living in an environment where there is a constant need for pleasurable stimulation, such as entertaining or partying. Frequent emotional drama can cause excessiveness also.

Look to issues with liquids in the body, such as blood circulation, urine, menstruation, tears, kidney as well as reproductive organs, or ongoing issues with hips, sacrum and lower back as signs of sacral chakra blockages. Water is key to helping unblock this chakra. Whether it is drinking, bathing, or meditating on water for the visualization of the flow and free movement, can begin to help unblock this chakra’s energy.

In addition, as the image of this chakra shows (see image on left), orange is the color related to the sacral chakra. Orange symbolizes energy. It is a combination of red (for personality) and yellow (for wisdom). Orange integrates these to help us overcome anger and develop self control. Therefore, wearing the color orange on the day you visit Kom Ombo can help stimulate the vibration of this creative energy. [3]

Finally, look to your dreams to see how your sacral chakra is fairing. Dreaming of the lower abdomen, oranges, water, emotions, sexuality, desire, tears, the moon, and appropriately, crocodiles may be indicators to consider whether you have excessive energy or blockages. [4] Then, sit back, bask in the sun as crocodiles often do while you cruise the Nile preparing for a memorable visit to the temple at Kom Ombo.

  Message from Menita...

Greetings Masters,

Let’s talk about the temples of Egypt and their connection with your body.  You are indeed the Temple of Man that is represented in the magnificent temples of ancient times.  Each spinning chakra center matches a special energy that radiates in this sacred land now called Egypt.  Some of these energy vortexes are along the peaceful Nile River and some are inland and some are deep beneath the sand.  The energy permeates the entire region and has been assigned an aspect of divinity by the many masters that have roamed and studied here.  Each temple holds ALL aspects of the Source yet ONE energy is more prominent. For your knowledge I have chosen 7 temples to represent aspects of your Divine God/Man Self or Temple of Man.

Our first one is the Temple of Isis in Aswan on the Island that is called Philea.  Here you will experience the magnificent of the grand magician and mother creator.  This is the place for envisioning your greatest manifestation be it peace of mind or a Porsche car.  This is the place of the beginning thought in the waters of the womb of the mother.  This chakra is connected to the seventh chakra, which is also the energy of pure creation.

It is important that each of you realize that your body is held together by these spinning wheels called chakras. Each wheel represents an important part of the creation process. Without all of them you are not complete and your body would die.  So Master I will explain how working with the ‘so called’ upper and lower chakras as a ‘team sport’ will increase manifesting powers.  You create your every moment in this reality called life.  When you are aware of this, you move away from the ‘autopilot’ that you are on and consciously create your moments.  Then and only then are your lives filled with the joy and peace that you desire and deserve.  Yes, you deserve everything that you desire for God is the Source of all abundance and there is enough for everyone.  Ha!  Big surprise!  Then get on with Manifesting!  Let go of the "poor me’s"!

So let's talk about how your 1st and 7th chakra work together.   The 1st chakra pulls in the magic or dream associated with the waters of creation or womb of the mother.  Here is where the thought first goes in order for you to even have a dream.  As you are aware, this chakra called the first is also filled with the dramas of the fear based human.  The God within can take this energy, bind it with the all-knowing power of the 7th chakra and bring to you a clear thought that is free of the fears associated with ‘not enough’ or ‘what ifs’. Soooooooo, Master, when you first begin to dream the dream of creation, see the 1st chakra of Isis and the 7th chakra of the Source merging to bring forth the dream. As you experience the energy of Isis in Philea do it with the knowledge of Divine Source with complete and utter confidence.

Next is the 2nd and 6th chakra. In Egypt I have chosen Kom Ombo to represent the 2nd energy of creation which is 2 gods residing together in one temple. Yes, peacefully together.  The passions have not united to create the conflict of the social conscious 3rd dimension as of yet.  These 2 gods represent the IDEAL of duality on this earth plain living together without judgment and not yet manifest.  Duality is necessary to bring forth things for manifestation (Porsche cars, new homes, trips to Egypt, everyday monies).  This is the place of passion for your greatest desire.  This is the balance of creation.  Nothing has been put into the equation that would cause conflict. So the 2nd chakra energy is the coupling of duality to create mass through the passion of the creator, YOU!

Divine passion for your greatest desire is the most important ingredient for creation.  Connect this powerful ingredient with the 6th chakra of vision and you have a winner. (Team Sport, Remember?)  The Ancient Egyptian was aware of the connection of these powerful energies and how they blend to create the greatest desire.  On one outer wall you will see the right and left seeing eyes of Horus that represented the 3rd all knowing eye of the source who saw all.  This 6th chakra vision blended with the passion of 2nd chakra balance is a winner in creating the desire that appeared in the womb of the 1st chakra.    I have been told that we will discuss the 3rd and 5th charkas in the next letter. Food for thought, when the passion of the 2nd chakra blends with the vision of the 6th chakra what is brought into the picture?  Could it be the social conscious third dimension where mass appears?  To be continued……………….  I am on a roll now! Ha!  So will have this lady continue with the lesson now and it will be presented next time.

I am Menita Ishmil.  Namasté

Glassworks in Ancient Egypt

These days, glass is everywhere. It's in your windows, your mirrors, and your drinking containers. People in ancient Egypt had glass, too, but it was special, and scientists have long debated where this valuable material came from. Now, researchers from London and Germany have found evidence that the Egyptians were making their own glass as far back as 3,250 years ago. The discovery defies a longstanding theory that ancient Egyptians imported glass from Mesopotamia.  The new evidence, uncovered in an Egyptian village named Qantir, however, shows that an ancient glassmaking factory had operated there. Artifacts from Qantir include pottery containers holding glass chunks, along with other traces of the glassmaking process. For the full article, click here.

Exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum

Magic in Ancient Egypt: Image, Word and Reality

(Now through September 28, 2008)

How the Egyptians, known throughout the ancient world for their expertise in magic, addressed the unknown forces of the universe is explored in this exhibition of twenty objects from the Brooklyn Museum's world-famous collection. Ancient Egyptians did not distinguish between religion and magic. They believed that the manipulation of written words, images, and ritual could influence the world through a divinely created force known as Heqa, personified as the eldest son of the solar creator Atum.

Heqa could be used by the gods to control and sustain the universe and by humans to deal with problems of ordinary life. The exhibition includes a relief of a son of Ramesses II, Prince Khaemwaset, who became legendary as a sage and magician; a bronze figure of the goddess Isis, known as "great of magic," holding a cobra that also had magical powers; a magical healing stela inspired by myths of Isis healing Horus of a scorpion bite; and a headrest with images of Bes and Taweret, deities who protected the dead and the living.

The exhibition also examines connections between magic and medicine, including the consumption of liquids imbued with magical powers; and the use of magic after death through such objects as funerary figurines that were created to carry out any work in the afterlife the gods might require of the deceased.

Saudi-Egyptian Causeway to Link Two Continents

P.K. Abdul Ghafour, Arab News

During his visit to the Kingdom’s northern region in 2007, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah is expected to launch a number of important projects, including the long-awaited Saudi-Egyptian Causeway which will link the continents of Asia and Africa. The Saudi monarch, who is visiting the region for the first time since becoming king in 2005, will also open the project for the construction of Tabuk University. The first phase of the project will cost about SR1 billion ($375 million) and include 16 colleges.

Informed sources said King Abdullah would lay the foundation stone for the 50-km causeway linking Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The causeway will be built in three years at a cost of $3 billion. It will link Ras Humaid in Tabuk with Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt and pass through Tiran Island. A consortium of Saudi, Egyptian and international companies will implement the project without causing financial liability to either government, the sources said.

“The causeway has been the dream of most Egyptians since it was first proposed about 10 years ago,” said Ali Masoud, an Egyptian journalist working in the Kingdom. He said the causeway would not only facilitate transport between the two countries but would also link the Asian and African continents. “It will have a great socio-economic and political impact on the region,” Masoud said.
